Simple 2 channel (or more) sound recording device with footswitches and led-feedback.

One channel for my bass amp and one for a simple microphone to add verbal notes to the recordings.

Could be as simple as one stereo channel with left for bass and right for mic.

Couple this to a machine in my home network and record as pcm wave.

Later editing could be done using Audacity.

• bass audio in (instrument level)

• headphone out
• record switch
• mic mute switch

USB side of things
The audio interface and switches could be all USB. Version with all components except the recording led could be built using an USB audio device, an USB hub and a mouse to use the switches from. Or perhaps one of those massively dumped skype phones?
